CRICKET: Freeland Under 13 girls booked their place in the ECB Lady Taverners national final after easing through the South & West regional finals.
They got off to a bad start in their opening game against Bath, losing captain Ellie Norton to the first ball of the game.
But they rallied to post 62-4, before restricting Bath to 43-4.
The second match against Chesham saw Freeland post 84-2, and then Becky Bowerman and Norton picked up two wickets apiece to keep Chesham to 42 all out.
Going into the final match, Freeland needed a win to secure a semi-final spot, and they posted a magnificent 92-1 before restricting Hurst to just 48 in reply.
Freeland's semi-final match against St Michael's School (Dorset) produced the highest score of the day as they rattled up 102 without loss, the highlight including two huge sixes from Bowerman.
In reply, St Michael's School were restricted to only 43-1.
In a repeat of their opening match, Freeland met Bath in the final, and posted 93-1, with Bowerman again hitting a massive six.
Bath got off to a decent start in reply with an opening stand of 43, before three wickets fell in Robyn Corburn's first over.
Abigail Flory then picked up the fourth wicket, with Norton taking the fifth as Bath closed on 61-5.
The national finals take place on July 13 at King Edward's School, Edgbaston.
