TENNIS: Jackie Hummel and Joy Browning had to dig deep to see Abingdon A home against Mapledurham A in Ladies Division 2 of the Wilson OLTA 2-Pair League.
The Abingdon first pair were taken to a tie-break in their opening set against Penny Wall and Julia Stanbrook, but then stepped up a gear to triumph 7-6, 6-4.
And with Pam Gordon and Helen Asbury beating Mapledurham's second pair 6-1, 6-3, Abingdon A completed a 3-1 win to maintain their unbeaten record.
Goring had a similar 3-1 victory when they entertained Oxford Sports, with Katie Crowley and Ruth Huntindon winning both their matches.
Table-topping Kings Sutton were far too strong for Banbury A in their clash at Banbury Town.
Stephanie Jones and Sue Dunn dropped only three games in four sets as Kings Sutton won 3.5-2.5 to stay two points clear of Abingdon A at the top of Division 2.
Benson increased Watlington's woes near the bottom by inflicting on them a 2.5-1.5 defeat.
Esther Chamberlain and Caroline Francis took 1.5 points for Benson, with their battling 6-2, 6-7, 7-6 win over Hattie Emms and Ruth Hughes proving decisive.
