At the halfway stage of the season, Charlbury, of Division 4, boast the only unbeaten record in the Oxford & District Bowls League, sponsored by Yarnton Nurseries Garden Centre.
Having suffered relegation on the last day of the 2007 season, Charlbury have won all seven games so far this year and are clear favourites for promotion.
Skip Dave Dix goes into the second half of the season undefeated after helping Charlbury to a 5-1 victory at Florence Park.
Close rivals Chadlington, who also dropped down from Division 3 last year, strengthened their position in second with an emphatic 6-0 victory over Morris Motors, setting up a top-of-the-table clash at home to Charlbury this evening.
Champions Banbury Central A sit five points clear at the top of Division 1 following their latest 5-1 win over Carterton, despite a good win from Sammy Timms's rink over Mark Sykes.
Division 2 remains tight the tightest of all four divisions, with barely ten points separating top from bottom.
Blackbird Leys are out of the bottom two after winning at South Oxford. Kidlington jump up to second following their success against Cotswold.
Unpredictable Hanborough pulled off the shock of the week at previously unbeaten Woodstock in Division 3.
John Edwards and Colin Oliver both skipped winning rinks, helping Hanborough to victory over the leaders.
