Despite a much-improved display, basement boys Kidlington fell to a five-wicket defeat at Burnham in Home Counties Premier League Division 2 West.
It leaves them 64 points from safety with three clubs likely to face the drop.
After Shahbaz Ali elected to bat on a pitch guaranteed to produce a result, Kidlington dug in.
They batted out their full 60 overs for the first time this season, but scored just 156-8.
Andrew Buckingham was their top-scorer, his 33 coming off 91 balls in 102 minutes.
And things looked up for Kidlington when Dave Taylor and Jamil Faruq each removed a Burnham opener to leave them on 12-2.
But Mohammed Fazal went on the attack and shared a 79-run third-wicket partnership with Yasir Hussain to take the game away from the hosts.
Although Kidlington picked up both their wickets, the damage had been done and Burnham eased home in the 31st over.
