ANGLING: Pete Clark emerged a convincing winner of the Maggots End/Mosella competition fished at Lower Court last Saturday.

The 12 monthly winners of the contest battled it out in the grand final and Clark triumphed with 161.1.0 from peg four.

Second was Antony Tomkins with 92.15.0, followed by Dave Clark with 90.4.0.

The winner's prize was a Mosella 13ft waggler rod from Maggots End, while Vic Bush, of Mosella south west, was thanked for his support and sponsorship.

Witney AS were at Lower Court the next day when 16 anglers battled against very strong winds.

The winner was Bill Bryant with 119.12.0 of carp and silver fish on a 14.5m pole up in the water with pellet on the hook.

Dean Bowerman was second with 80.8.0, including about 25lb of orfe and skimmers, plus carp on pole and maggot.

Paul Hayes caught 62.0.0 of carp and silver fish on pole, paste and maggot for third.

It was also the Pete Capon Pairs Cup, where the winning combination were Bill Bryant and Martin Avons.

Benson staged their first Rose Bowl on the local stretch of the Thames where one bream and some bits on the pole and maggot gave Dave Head top spot with 6.7.0.

In second place was Mike Marriott with 5.12.0, one bream and bits on the feeder, followed by John Wheeler with a bream and a skimmer on the feeder worth 5.2.0.

Martin MacDonald was a clear winner of Jolly Anglers' Coronation Cup on the Chalmore reach of the Thames with four bream and three skimmers for 18.12 4.

Second-placed Lee Crook also found the bream for 14.2.0, while Phil Ansell was third with 4.6.0 of chub and bits.

Littlemore fished their J Henwood Shield on the Thames at Sandford where Gerald Perks claimed the first silverware of the season.

He caught three bream, plus perch, on the pole with worm to weigh in 13.0.0.

Malcolm Smith fished the feeder with caster and had a tench and some perch worth 6.0.0 for second place, followed by Terry Woodwood, who managed a few roach on the waggler with maggot, for 4.11.0.
