GREYHOUNDS: Oxford's next big race, the Tech-Shop UK Maiden Derby, for hounds who have yet to win an open race, could be over-subscribed if the amount of interest is anything to go by.
Already there have been nearly 30 trials for hopefuls, and with another 20-30 hounds waiting to be put through their paces, it looks as though there will be a lot of disappointed owners for the 36-runner event which gets under way a week on Tuesday.
Local trainer Richard Baker has high hopes, with his Smooth Hawk posting the best time so far, an impressive 26.98.
Oxford's Michael Peterson hopes to track Malbray Rooney, Turbo Billy and Jet Black Swifty.
