Oxfordshire are on the brink of reaching the last 16 of the 50+ County Championship after a 62-run victory over Staffordshire at Bicester & North Oxford.
They need only one win from their remaining two Group 4 fixtures, the first of which is against Herefordshire at Great & Little Tew on Thursday.
With Herefordshire not having won for seven years, Oxon are definitely in the box seat after their fourth win in five games.
Put in to bat on a good pitch, Oxon lost Paul Tew in the first over and Ian Caunce for a swift 25.
When Phil Garner was caught the visitors looked to have the upper hand.
But an excellent 83 from Alec Cunningham, who shared stands of 73 with Malcolm Evans and 40 with both Andrew Wingfield Digby and Steve Kelly, guided Oxfordshire to 232-6.
A good opening spell by Trevor Spindler paved the way for Wingfield Digby to polish off the tail.
Despite an astonishing spell of seven dropped catches in just three overs, David Starr being the beneficiary on each occasion, Staffs were well short of the target.
