THERE was some remarkable scoring in the away alley this week.
In the Premier clash between The Swan A and Gladiators A, Scott Thompson was in scintillating form with 16 dolls (4-6-6) and was backed up brilliantly by teammate Kevin Baker with 15 dolls (6-4-5). Gladiators set and won the opening leg 24-21. The Swan levelled in the second leg, winning it 28-23. Gladiators decided to set in the final leg and banged in a score of 30 to The Swan’s 21.
Premier leaders The White House crashed to only their second defeat of the season at The George A. With a four-doll handicap, The George set and won the first leg 30-21. White House set 24 in the next leg, and in reply, anchor man Kevin Stuart needed four to win, which he duly obliged. White House grabbed a point in the final leg.

Mark Poulter of Red Lion B Cassington continued his outstanding form after clanging off 15 dolls (6-4-5) for the second time this season, guiding the Section One leaders to a 2-1 win at North Leigh FC. With the game at 1-1, The Lion won the deciding leg 25-17.
In Section Two, The Blackbird’s Paul Edwards threw out of his skin for a best ever score of 16 (5-5-6), doubling his average up to now. However, his side lost 2-1 at The Queens Head. Title hopefuls Red Lion B Kidlington crashed at home to bottom-placed Masons Arms A. It started off well for The Lion, who won the opening leg 22-16. Masons won the next leg 19-16, and then set 20 in the final leg, which turned out to be enough as Lion fell one doll short. Chequers A’s title ambitions took another hit as they lost their second game on the bounce, this time at home to Donnington A 3-0. The first leg was a tight matter with Donnington winning 18-17. Chequers set 18 in the second, and in reply Donnington left anchor man Steve Walton needing four to win, and he clanged off five. Donnington completed the whitewash in the final leg.
Donnington Club D remain unbeaten and top Section Three after victory at The Tandem. They had to do it the hard way after losing the first leg, but regrouped and won the next two. Blecthington Sports are hoping for a slip by the leaders but dropped a vital point at Kidlington FC. They won the first two legs but lost the final one.
