LIAM Manning is optimistic that Oxford United can finalise a new signing this week.
The U’s have already brought in half a dozen new players this summer, with head coach Manning reiterating that ‘two or three’ more are still needed.

Speaking after yesterday evening’s goalless draw with Eastleigh, Manning was asked how many more signings he feels the club needs.
He responded: “Two or three more still. We’re very close on one that we’re hoping to see at the weekend, and then I’d say another two after that.
“We’ve still got a bit more to add and a bit of work to do.
“With some of the Premier League sides being away on tour with their young players, that opens up some that come back so we’ll have a look at that.
“We’re still working hard behind the scenes, finding that balance of the group we’ve got, but we also know that we need to add as well.”
United have already signed James Beadle, Jordan Thorniley, Fin Stevens, Josh McEachran, Ruben Rodrigues and Mark Harris during this summer’s transfer window.
Former Aberdeen winger Marley Watkins remains on trial with the U’s and played the full 90 minutes yesterday, starting the game from the right-hand side.
Manning said: “We’ll go away and have a discussion, he’s been with us for a week so we’ve had a good opportunity to have a look at him.
“We saw him at the weekend and today as well. We’ll go away and have a discussion, and make a decision on that.”
