Oxford Cavaliers fell to a 62-20 defeat away to unbeaten leaders Bristol Sonics in the Rugby League Conference South West and Midlands League.
Cavaliers' defence held strong for 20 minutes with some good tackling from Joe McEneaney, Jack Briggs and John Connaughton.
At full back, Stewart Hannah made some penetrating runs to give the Cavaliers their best field positions in the opening quarter.
Bristol went ahead after an overlap and ran in four more first-half tries to lead 28-0 lead.
Oxford's first points came from a Connaughton try, converted by Shane Turner.
Bristol scored under the posts on several more occasions before Cavaliers rallied with 14 unanswered points in the last 15 minutes.
Following a Tom Waterfield break, centre Alex Banjamin continued the move for Turner to score.
Second row Tom Ollie squeezed through a gap in the Sonics defence to score and finally Connaughton crossed for his second try.
