OXFORD United have completed their second signing in as many days with the capture of former loanee Jordan Thorniley.
The 26-year-old centre back’s contract with Blackpool is set to expire this month.
He follows Notts County attacker Ruben Rodrigues through the door at Grenoble Road.

Of course though, this will be Thorniley’s second stint with the U’s, having joined the club on a season-long loan from Blackpool at the beginning of the 2021/22 campaign.
An injury crisis at the back meant the Seasiders recalled Thorniley on January 24 that season, after he made 25 appearances for United, all of them starts.
After putting pen to paper on a ‘long-term’ agreement, Thorniley will become a permanent U’s player on July 1 when his contract with Blackpool expires.
He told the United club website: “This is a club I know well following my time on loan. To have the chance to come back is a fantastic opportunity for me and one I couldn’t turn down.
“The way Liam Manning wants to play really suits me and I believe I can develop here. I’ve been really impressed by the ambition of the club and can’t wait to get started.”
Manning added: “Jordan is a player we’ve been tracking for some time, and we’re delighted to get this one done.
“He’s a very technical defender and has all the attributes we are looking for. He reads the game well, is comfortable with the ball at his feet and good in one-on-one situations. We think he’ll do very well in the system we play.”
Head of recruitment Ed Waldron said: “Jordan is another great addition to our squad and someone who will only get better working under Liam. We are all looking forward to seeing him back in an Oxford United shirt.”
Last season, Thorniley played 33 times for Blackpool in all competitions, scoring once in a 6-1 victory at home to Queens Park Rangers.
The Tangerines were relegated from Sky Bet Championship after a two-year stay, finishing 23rd and five points adrift of safety.
