Colston maintained their fine start in Mixed Division 1 of the 2-Pair League by beating Oxford Sports 2.5-1.5.

Second pair Chris Hand and Clare Abbott made the crucial breakthrough for Colston, taking a set off Steve and Clare Roberts, who went on to beat Tim Manners and Liz Bamber 6-4, 6-4.

Abingdon A, chasing Colston hard, brushed off the challenge of Banbury West End 2.5-1.5 with Ole Andersen and Alison Haynes undefeated.

Bicester A's title hopes received a dent as they were held 2-2 at Wantage, although it looked a lot worse at one stage.

They were heading for defeat until Craig Naylor and Kim Buffham hit back in style to beat Steve Pugh and Carole Smythe 1-6, 6-3, 6-0.

Gavin Crickmore and Ruth Ballantyne were in top form for Blewbury A as they won 2.5-1.5 at Watlington in Division 2, dropping just three games in four sets.
