THE 2023 Barracks Bonanza delivered yet again with a day of fast, furious and scintillating action.
Witnessed by a bumper crowd in pleasant conditions at Abingdon Airfield, racing was top quality throughout the day on a superbly prepared and maintained race track.
The 500cc solos were outstanding, with breathtaking action being the norm as each heat contained close racing and positions changing regularly to produce a spectators’ paradise.

The final saw amazing racing with Charley Powell and Dave Meijerink flying neck and neck into the first corner.
Chris ‘Bomber’ Harris then battled his way to second place and on the last bend, came inside Powell to win an amazing final.
Meanwhile, the 1,000cc sidecar crews had everyone in attendance in awe with their jaw-dropping action.
All six crews got off the line in the final, powering into the first bend. Tom Cossar and Wayne Rickards were caught by Colin Blackbourn and Carl Pugh, who went on to win.
Dalton Grasstrack Club must be congratulated on staging a top-quality event, and surely if they continue to receive the backing of riders and supporters, it can only be a massive boost for the sport and rekindle those halcyon days, thus reminding people what a fantastic spectacle Grasstrack is.
Last year, the Dalton Grasstrack Club hosted the Barracks Bonanza as it returned for the first time since 2001.
