Dame Kelly Holmes has tipped Oxford City star Hannah England for a glittering future after her victory in the 1500m at the National Collegiate AA Championships in Iowa.
England, who won the race with an Olympic qualifying time of 4.06.19, will compete in the Olympic trials in Birmingham next month, and is currently the fastest women in Britain over the distance.
England was one of six athletes selected by Holmes to attend an educational camp 'On Camp with Kelly' at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
Holmes, a double Olympic gold medallist at the 800 & 1500m, has played a key role in England's development.
Commenting on her outstanding performance, Holmes said: "Hannah's run at the NCAAs was absolutely fantastic.
"She has had a great season out in the USA, not only running fast times, but showing great tactics to win races."
England has been studying at Florida State University for a year as part of her biochemistry degree at Birmingham University.
While in the USA, she has finished in the top three places in all her track races, won the NCAA indoor mile title and set personal bests for the 800m (2.02.48), 1,500m (4.35.30 indoors) and 3000m (9.19.25 indoors).
"I have known Hannah for about four years now and have seen her mature both as an athlete and a person," Holmes added.
"It's great to see her talent coming to fruition.
"She has now put herself in a great position to fight for selection for the GB team for the Olympics, and I will be supporting her every step of the way."
England expects to have one more race before the trials in a bid to put her in the best possible shape.
