Former Radley athlete Hatti Dean has been given a late call-up to represent Great Britain at this weekend's Spar European Cup in Anncey, France.
The Hallamshire Harrier will compete in the women's 3,000m steeplechase, following the late withdrawal of Barbara Parker.
Dean is currently second in the British rankings for the steeplechase this season, but Parker, the British No 1, has opted to return to the United States to focus on preparations for the Beijing Olympics.
Dave Collins, UK Athletics Performance Director said: "There is always a possibility of changes to teams leading up to competition, and this situation is heightened as we are in an Olympic year.
"The European Cup is an important marker in the season, but I understand why athletes are being cautious in the run-up to Beijing."
Dean, who is also an Olympic hopeful, is the only Oxfordshire athlete representing Britain in the European Cup.
Oxford City's Nathan Douglas missed out on selection behind Phillips Idowu.
