GATLIN O’Donkor has missed out on a prestigious award.
Oxford United’s teenage striker was shortlisted for the LFE League One ‘Apprentice of the Season’ after a breakthrough campaign which has seen him play 34 games in all competitions, while scoring twice in the third tier.
The 18-year-old also scored five goals during United’s historic run to the quarter finals of the FA Youth Cup.

The award was ultimately won by Charlton Athletic centre back Zach Mitchell, who has played eight games for the Addicks this season, pipping both O’Donkor and Barnsley striker Fabio Jalo to the gong.
Elsewhere at this year’s EFL Awards, Steven Schumacher took the manager of the season award, having currently guided Plymouth Argyle to the top of the division.
Argyle defender Bali Mumba – on loan from Norwich City – won the young player of the season award.
The player of the season award was scooped by Bristol Rovers striker Aaron Collins, the only player in League One to reach double figures for goals and assists, having netted 16 times and created a further 11 for his teammates.
