JORDAN Flynn isn’t letting the glamour of being on the undercard for Anthony Joshua’s comeback fight distract his focus.
The Cowley boxer will take to the ring against Kane Baker at the O2 in London on Saturday, shortly before Joshua faces the American fighter Jermaine Franklin.
Lightweight Flynn boasts an 8-0 unbeaten record since turning professional, but the fight against Baker is by far the biggest of his career so far, largely due to the heightened media interest.

He told this newspaper: “Coming from Oxford, this is a big thing for me and I’m really proud.
“The cameras don’t mean anything to me, I’ve just got to focus on this fight.
“This is where I want to be though – you don’t get much bigger than being on the undercard for an Anthony Joshua fight.”
The huge interest in Joshua’s bout with Franklin drips down to the undercard, with Flynn involved in a number of activities this week.
A red carpet event to mark the fight week, press conference and weigh-in are among the additional items Flynn has had to pencil into his diary this week.

He said: “On Monday, we had the red carpet event for the fight.
“There was lots of cameras, media and interviews, and Anthony Joshua was there plus everyone from my team.
“The press conference was a big occasion – you look in front of you and there’s hundreds of cameras.
“I felt confident though as this is where I feel I’m meant to be, and this is just the beginning.
“We had the face off and he looked away first, so that’s always a good thing and I’ve won round one.
“He looks like he’s an experienced fighter though and he’ll be trying to win, but I trust my skill, speed and power will be too much for him.
“I can relax a little bit now though and make sure I’m ready for the weigh-in.
“The weigh-in will have thousands watching from the public and online as well, so that’ll be another big thing.”

Baker said at yesterday’s press conference: “I’m blessed to be here, it’s a massive privilege.
“It’s something I thought I wouldn’t ever get to do, was to fight on the AJ undercard, so I’m ticking off some boxes.
“I’ll turn up on Saturday and I’ll be throwing leather all night, don’t worry about that.”
Former two-time unified world heavyweight champion Joshua faces Franklin as he returns to the ring for the first time since losing back-to-back fights against the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk in September 2021 and August of last year.
