JORDAN Flynn is looking to take his career to the next level after signing with the management company owned by former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

Cowley boxer Flynn has joined 258 MGT following an amicable split from his former trainer Kevin Mitchell, while he is now putting in the hard yards at the prestigious Steel City Gym in Sheffield five days a week.

In November, lightweight Flynn took his record to 8-0 since turning professional, after beating Joshua Ocampo at Swindon’s MECA venue.

Partnering up with 258 MGT and training at Steel City are the next steps in Flynn’s quest to win a title in 2023.

On signing with 258 MGT, Flynn told the Oxford Mail: “They got in contact with me and we had a couple of meetings.

“This is a chance to show what I can do, the opportunities they can give me are massive.

“I’ve built the foundations myself but now it’s about taking that to the next level.

“The opportunities that can come now and the contacts they have all over the world, look at how Anthony Joshua has been managed and guided.”

While the intensity of training at Steel City hasn’t increased dramatically, Flynn is reaping the rewards of a full team behind him.

He said: “I’m training up there from Monday to Friday and then coming back at the weekend.

“It’s my fourth week there and it’s a very good gym.

“You’re constantly learning off each other and they’re always giving you advice.

“I’ve always trained hard so I wouldn’t say I’m training harder, it’s about training smarter and I’m wising up now.

“I’ve got a nutritionist on board and meal prep, and a strength and conditioning coach in the gym, so it’s a full team now.

“I’ve made these changes, which make a little percentage difference.”

Those recent alterations will be key as Flynn aims for a title this year.

“As the opponent level steps up, you’ve got to make the most of the differences,” he said.

“My next fight will be an eight-rounder and it’ll be another step up.

“I’m really looking forward to announcing myself on the big stage this year.

“We’ll get a couple of eight-rounders in as quickly as possible and then we’ll aim for an English title fight maybe by the end of the summer.

“I hope it’s going to be a big year. I’ve built the foundations myself and now I’ve got the best management company behind me, the right opportunities will come to me on the big stage.”
