CRAIG Short has stood by his decision to reinstate Elliott Moore as Oxford United captain.
Former U’s head coach Karl Robinson revealed that Moore had stepped down as skipper in what proved to be Robinson’s final game in charge as the side lost 3-0 at home to Bristol Rovers.
It was announced prior to that game, that Sam Long and Cameron Brannagan would share the armband.

Short however gave Moore the captaincy for the 1-0 defeat at Lincoln City last weekend.
Quizzed about that call yesterday, Short said: “The captaincy thing annoyed me after the game last week, people asking me about that.
“Elliott Moore in the time I’ve been here, has been one of the most consistent performers at the club.
“Elliott has respect of the whole dressing room, I know Cameron and Sam would’ve been disappointed because they were sharing it.
“I’ve spoken to the board and put my name in the hat because I don’t want to lose my job and I’ve got to fight for my job.”

“It was always my preference to have a centre back as a captain, I’ve been captain in teams as a centre back.
“It was disappointing to have to answer that question when you’ve just had a defeat.
“For me, there’s three or four leaders on the pitch.
“James Henry was a great leader last weekend, he’s been great in the dressing room.”
