James Henry has said that the players have to “accept some responsibly” following the sacking of Karl Robinson.
Robinson’s last game was the 3-0 loss to Bristol Rovers, a seventh defeat in eight games that has left them five points off the relegation zone.
Oxford United now face Lincoln City this weekend with the forward admitting the U’s must “bounce back” amid the current uncertainty at the club.
He said: “Obviously there has been a big change this week.
“Us as players play a part in that and have to accept some responsibility.
“But it’s going to be a new regime. I’m sure they are looking to sort the manger situation quickly.
“We can’t stop, big game Saturday we have to try and get three points.”
Craig Short, Leon Blackmore-Such and Wayne Brown have been placed in caretaker charge and have taken training this week.
Henry said: “They have stepped in and they have given us a bit of direction this week and hopefully it will pay off on Saturday.
“Training has been good, the boys have trained hard.
“That’s what we are going to need some hard work and determination to get us out of the situation we have put ourselves in.
“Everyone has a role to play, some of us boys that have been in this situation before.
“It wasn’t too long ago we were here with Oxford, three or four years ago, when we were looking over our shoulder for a period of time.
“We managed to steer ourselves clear and progress the next year really well and made it to the playoffs.
“That’s the sort of bounce back we need to have.”
Lincoln City sit 14th in Sky Bet League One, five points above United.
Mark Kennedy’s side has gone eight games unbeaten but six of those have been draws.
Henry said: “It's going to be another tough game, they are unbeaten at home this season.
“They are probably full of confidence there but we will go there and give it our all.
“We have got to come away with some points.
“We need to start scoring goals and keeping the back door shut, that has been a big problem for us this season.”
Henry also called on the fans for their support but admitted that this season has been a disappointing one.
He said: “The fans can make such a difference especially in these situation, you need all the support.
“I understand it hasn’t been good enough this season.”
