A FORMER Oxford United boss is one game away from becoming a world champion.
Ramon Diaz led United between December 2004 and May 2005, and is currently the manager of Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
Saudi Arabia’s most decorated club face Spanish giants Real Madrid in the Club World Cup final on Saturday.
Diaz led Al-Hilal to a victory on penalties against Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca, before a thrilling 3-2 win against Brazilian outfit Flamengo.
“It’s a severe bang and some bruising he’s been struggling with since the game, so we’re just waiting really.”

Real Madrid meanwhile beat Egyptian team Al Ahly 4-1 to reach the final, with Vinicius Junior, Federico Valverde, Rodrygo and Sergio Arribas netting for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
The Club World Cup sees the winners of continental club competitions face each other, alongside a representative from the home nation, which this year is Morocco.
Diaz, who played for Argentina 22 times and scored ten goals for his country, remains the last United boss to win a divisional manager of the month award, back in January 2005.
He quit the U’s when negotiations over a new contract broke down.
