KARL Robinson feels fortune was against Oxford United as his side fell to a fourth defeat on the spin.
Ryan Bowman’s second half goal was enough to secure in-form Shrewsbury Town their fifth consecutive victory.
United arguably should’ve led at half-time though, with Kyle Joseph hitting the post and a penalty call turned down when Ciaron Brown saw a shot seemingly hit the hand of a Shrews defender.
U’s head coach Robinson said: “When the whistle went, the players had nothing more to give.
“When you’re winning games of football like they are at this moment in time, it drops for you.
“We’ve hit the post, a blatant penalty in the first half, a blatant penalty in the second half – these are all the near misses when you’re going through a bad time.
“We understand all the pressure that’s getting putting on us, we’ve been quite open about how together we are internally and how much we want to put this right.
“Right now, everyone’s got every right to be disappointed.”
Robinson said that during the team’s current poor form on the pitch, everyone at the club must remain united.
“We have to make sure that we internally within the club stick together,” he said.
“We’ve already said publicly this week that’s what we’re going to do and we’re going to make sure we move forward.
“I don’t think anybody can criticise large aspects of our game today, it’s just the result and that’s the most important thing.
“I thought we were excellent in all aspects of our game, we’re just unfortunate we didn’t get the goal that we deserved.”
