Paul Taylor's brilliant bowling brought Banbury back to winning form in the Home Counties Premier League Division 1 as they beat struggling Slough by five wickets - despite a dramatic collapse.

The former England left-arm seamer, who took 7-19 in Banbury's defeat by Radlett the previous week, this time returtned 5-34 as Slough were dismissed for 133.

Ryan Newhook made the initial breakthrough before Taylor whipped through the middle-order, including the key wicket of skipper Bobby Sher, bowled for two.

Taylor was well supported by left-arm spinner Luke Ryan, who captured 3-56 in a sustained spell of 20 overs.

Slough, who struggled all day, were eventually dismissed for 133 in the 57th over.

With openers Chris Smith and Simon Hole putting on a half-century partnership, Banbury appeared to be cruising to victory.

But they then had alarming slump that saw four wickets fall for six rund to Sher and Nilander Cooray.

Astonishingly, Craig Haupt, Benji Hector and Jaimie Noble all made ducks as Slough took the upper hand.

From 92-5, it needed some sensible batting from Luke Ryan and Ed Phillips to steady the rocking ship and Banbury home in the 56th over.

Slough, last season's runners-up, are now entrenched at the bottom.
