There will be pink balls and coloured clothing in The Park tonight (Friday) when Oxford play Cambridge in the first-ever Twenty20 Varsity match However, there will be no floodlights, so this historic contest starts at 4pm and will finish before dusk.

"I hope lots of people come in after work to enjoy the occasion," said Dark Blues' captain Ollie Sadler. "It should be a great atmosphere.

"We've not had any practice matches, but we've tailored our net sessions with the Twenty20 in mind."

Sadler is uncertain how the 'reddy' pink' ball will behave.

"We think it will swing like the white one, that they use in floodlit matches, but nobody's really sure," he said.

Oxford have picked a squad of 14, with the final selection being made shortly before the start The game is being sponsored by Charles Russell solicitors, who have donated a trophy to be played for on an annual basis.

Oxford Univ squad: O Sadler (capt), A Ball, B Mckercher, N Kruger, D King, C Hill, S Crawley, T Howell, L Dingle, R Shephard, J Macadam, D Baskhar, H Haslam.
