THE Oxford Mail player ratings after Oxford United were beaten 3-0 at Sky Bet League One high-flyers Ipswich Town.
ED MCGINTY
A difficult game to make his league debut in and let slip a shot which allowed Freddie Ladapo to open the scoring. Had made a couple of solid saves to deny headed efforts before that – 5
SAM LONG
Moved out to right back with Elliott Moore back in the team and endured a tough afternoon up against a dangerous left-hand side of Leif Davis and Marcus Harness – 5
ELLIOTT MOORE
Won his share of physical duels with Ipswich getting most of their joy down the flanks, and was often left with hammering the ball clear to try and get U’s up the pitch – 5
STUART FINDLAY
Pushed up and left a space at the back, allowing Conor Chaplin to finish the game off. Like Moore, wasn’t able to get the ball down on the turf and play United out of trouble – 4.5
CIARON BROWN
A rare game whereby his winger had the better of him throughout. Failed to get a grip on Wes Burns, who outpaced and got past Brown with ease – 4.5
“In the second half, we lost every individual fight.”

CAMERON BRANNAGAN
Got frustrated by the match and was dragged into spats with Lee Evans and Sone Aluko. A theme this season that when games are slipping by, frustration gets the better of him – 4.5
MARCUS MCGUANE
Dominated in the midfield by the fantastic Sam Morsy and Lee Evans. Games like this open up the question as to whether United need a proper midfield anchor such as Morsy – 5
DJAVAN ANDERSON
Had an early effort whistle past the post from distance but went chasing the ball at times, leaving gaps down the right – 4.5
MARCUS BROWNE
Only played 15 minutes before being withdrawn due to injury – N/A
BILLY BODIN
A few neat touches and turns, especially in the opening half an hour where United looked somewhat a threat. Seemed at times the only player looking to make something happen. MAN OF THE MATCH – 5.5
MATTY TAYLOR
Left to feed off scraps again but had one shot hit the side netting from a difficult angle. Goals have dried up this season but without service, hard to see where those goals will come from. BOOKED – 5
SUBSTITUTES
James Henry (for Browne, 15)
Played through Taylor when he hit the side netting, but otherwise couldn’t get into the game. Came off the bench early on and was then withdrawn. BOOKED – 4.5
Josh Murphy (for Anderson, 45)
The former Norwich City man will have wanted to make a greater impact than what he did against his former rivals but was largely anonymous as Ipswich dominated – 4
Yanic Wildschut (for Henry, 60)
Like Murphy, was unable to change United’s fortunes from the bench and was rarely involved – 4
Gatlin O’Donkor (for Taylor, 60)
Will have been a very frustrating afternoon for the youngster, isolated up front and unable to change the tide of the match – 4
Tyler Goodrham (for McGuane, 89)
Unused: Mousinho, Seddon.
Substitutes who come on after the 75th minute do not get a rating.
