Ray Sturgess has died aged 43, after a battle against pancreatic cancer.
Sturgess (above) played in both the Oxford & District and Eynsham Leagues, and was one of the most consistent players in the county.
Oxford & District League spokesman Pete Ewins said: "Ray was a great player and will sadly missed by all of us.
"He always entered the opens and played in the Eynsham Inter Area and represented England."
Sturgess played in 16 summer and winter competitions between 1996 and 2008, mainly for the Nelson.
He was also voted player of the year in 1998 and 2002.
His funeral takes place tomorrow at St Swithun's Church, Kennington (3pm).
- The Oxford & District League's annual meeting takes place at the Gladiators Cup tonight (8pm).
Meanwhile, the summer league commences next Thursday (June 12), and fixture lists will be available at tonight's meeting.
