AROUND 180 people attended the funeral of The Oxford Times Cherwell League president Derek Primett at Oxford Crematorium.
The service was taken by Rev Andrew Wingfield Digby, a member of the Oxfordshire Over 50s side which Primett managed.
He recited his own memories of the popular 'Prim', 73, of Wolvercote, who was widely regarded as the greatest character in Oxfordshire cricket.
Wingfield Digby also read out a tribute from former Oxfordshire captain Phil Garner, who was unable to attend the service.
Among those attending the funeral were many past and present cricketers from Primett's club, Stanton St John Willows.
They included nine players - Mike Primett, David Hughes, Richard Winfield, Dick Giles, Peter Dela, Steve Brown, Graham Savin, Tom Rodway and John Grundy - from the Willows side he captained to win the Trinity League in 1983.
