JORDAN Flynn is already looking ahead to a title fight next year after rounding off a hugely successful 2022.
The Cowley boxer won his final bout of the year on points, against Joshua Ocampo.
The win, at Swindon’s MECA venue, takes Flynn’s record to 8-0 since turning professional, including five victories this year.
Flynn was expecting Ocampo to come out strong, having previously won eight fights out of 19, six of them via a knockout.
However that wasn’t to be the case as Flynn forced Ocampo to defend after a commanding opening round.
And still undefeated! 8-0, 5 fights and 5 wins this year ✅ Next year is all about titles and big shows!! 🙏 I’m coming for it all, big thank you to all my sponsors and everyone that supports me. love you all 💙 pic.twitter.com/8RUQE3fM6Y

“He felt my power in the first round, he was hurt and then went into survival mode,” said Flynn.
“I thought he’d try and come out fighting but he was holding.
“He had eight wins and six knockouts so I thought he’d have a proper go but as soon as he got caught, it was defensive mode.
“They’re clever at surviving – if it was eight rounds rather than six, he would’ve gone.
“We know now that we’re doing eight rounds rather than six.
“Now the levels are going to step up, we’ll see more fighting and more knockouts.
“It was a good, dominant performance though.”
Flynn’s previous fight saw him beat Rustem Fatkhullin at the Kassam Stadium on an historic night as professional boxing returned to Oxford for the first time in 60 years.
Despite a raucous atmosphere at Grenoble Road, Flynn felt the support went up a notch in Swindon.
“The atmosphere was incredible, it sounded even louder than the Kassam fight,” he said.
“They were going crazy, everyone had a good time and enjoyed it.”
A title fight remains the target for next year, after a 2022 to be proud of.
“I’ll have a little week off now, and then I’ll get back in the gym and keep working,” Flynn said.
“Hopefully I’ll learn a date, which might be February, so it’s not that far away and it’ll come around quickly.
“It could be a title fight but I’d say it’ll more likely be an eight-rounder, to then get the title fight.
“It’s about picking the right fights and using these stepping stones.
“It’s been a successful 2022 and I’m proud of myself.
“It’s been a busy year and I’ve always been in training.
“Next year is about titles and bigger platforms, whether that be fights on Sky Sports, so we need to start making movements.
“This year was about being busy, but now we have to negotiate with these people and speak about getting on these shows.”
