KYLE Joseph will not need an operation on his ankle injury, Oxford United head coach Karl Robinson has confirmed.
The Swansea City loanee was stretchered off in the first half of the 1-1 draw at Shrewsbury Town on November 9, following a tackle by Tom Flanagan.
Last week, Robinson revealed Joseph is set to remain with the U’s while he returns to fitness after conversations with Swansea head coach Russell Martin.
Earlier this afternoon, Robinson said on Joseph: “He doesn’t need an operation, so he’s probably about eight weeks away from back playing.
“It’s a 12-week injury and he’s four weeks into that.”
A little bit of fun for a Tuesday morning, in case World Cup fever hasn’t settled in yet. Some links (mainly tenuous) between Oxford United and the 32 nations out in Qatar, including Phil Foden, Cristiano Ronaldo and Djavan Anderson… #oufc https://t.co/1TB0CUiEkQ

Billy Bodin was substituted midway through the first half of United’s draw at home to Forest Green Rovers at the weekend, but Robinson said his injury isn’t a serious one.
“He’s fine, the scan came back okay,” Robinson said.
“He’s trained this morning, but there’s still a level of fatigue in there.
“The pitch on Wednesday [at Woking] certainly had an impact on him but he scored the goal, so you’ve got to weigh that up as well.”
