JORDAN Flynn knows he will be in for a tough fight as he prepares for his final bout of the year this weekend.
The Cowley boxer makes the short trip to Swindon’s MECA venue on Saturday, following his historic win at the Kassam Stadium last month.
Professional boxing hadn’t taken place in Oxford for 60 years, until unbeaten lightweight Flynn topped the card and beat Rustem Fatkhullin on points.
That victory took his record to 7-0 since turning professional.
He said: “My last fight was six weeks ago, and I only had a week off, so it’s felt like two camps in one.
“I’m always in the gym, boxing is a full-time thing.

“People make the mistake of taking time off but you’ve got to keep grinding through.
“This will be my fifth fight of the year, and I’ve been trying to get as many fights as I could.”
Flynn’s win against Fatkhullin was his sixth six-round fight, and while he had hopes of an eight-round bout this weekend, he will have to make do with another six-rounder against Joshua Ocampo.
“It’s only going to be six rounds, I wanted eight rounds but it’s quite a big card and I got on it at the last minute,” said Flynn.
“Hopefully it won’t last six rounds though.
“One hundred per cent, the next thing will be eight rounds – six is too comfortable for me.
“Rounds five and six are where I feel at my best, when I’m gearing up.
“When I get to eight and 10-round fights, that will be perfect for me.”
A little bit of fun for a Tuesday morning, in case World Cup fever hasn’t settled in yet. Some links (mainly tenuous) between Oxford United and the 32 nations out in Qatar, including Phil Foden, Cristiano Ronaldo and Djavan Anderson… #oufc https://t.co/1TB0CUiEkQ

Ocampo has won eight fights out of 19, six of them via a knockout.
“I’ve not seen much about him but he’s got eight wins with six knockouts so he can definitely punch a bit,” said Flynn.
“With a winning record, it means he’ll come and fight.
“When they’re trying to survive, it’s hard to catch them out but that won’t be the case this time.”
Flynn added: “Next year, I want to be stepping things up and having my first title fight, I want to keep climbing the rankings.
“Every single fight is a part of those steps.”
As was the case when he beat Fatkhullin, an after-party will be held at Elements in Cowley Road, and Flynn is hoping for a big turnout once again, to celebrate his achievements this year.
“Everyone can come and join even if they’re not going to the fight, as I know it can be hard to get to different places, especially if people are drinking,” he said.
“Last time, it was brilliant and packed – it was nice to see all the different faces there.
“There’ll be a good few hundred going over from Oxford to Swindon though, going on trains or driving, so they’ll be good support.
“You want to impress them and please them, that’s the type of person I am, but you can’t get too carried away and let them effect you.”
