North Oxford and Oxford City cruised to comfortable wins in Mixed Division 1 of the 3-Pair League in the OLTA Wilson Inter-Club League.

North recorded a 7.5-1.5 victory over Woodstock, while City whitewashed Banbury B 9-0.

Louise Purton and Jay Sexton won all three rubbers at first pair for North, with Kate Calnan and Jack Rooney unbeaten at No 2.

Nicky Marsh and Manoj Gujral won Woodstock's only match, with Tom Francis and Jo Corfield grabbing the half.

City enjoyed an easier time, with Jo Love, Nick Hughes, Esther Symmonds, Antony Dipinto, Julie Wakeford and John Ruddick all in fine form.

In Division 2, North Oxford C beat Abingdon A 6.5-2.5.

Dave Rooney and Alison Courtney won all three rubbers at first pair, with Tim Ault and Sally Tolson claiming two-and-a-half at No 2.

Witney beat Woodstock B 7-2, but the scoreline was given a flattering look with a clean sweep in the final round.

Ally Morgan and Paul Valentine won all three matches at first pair, with Mark Adam and Julia Murnaghan winning all three rubbers at No 2.

In the 2-Pair League, Colston survived two three-set battles to beat Banbury West End 3-1.

After the opening matches were halved, Chris Hand and Liz Bamber fought from a set down to beat Jeremy Turner and Karen Taylor 1-6, 6-1, 6-2.

Neil Cowley and Clare Abbot then ensured victory with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 win over Ian Jelfs and Andi Padbury.

A sensational final rubber saw Abingdon A and Wantage B draw 2-2.

With Abingdon leading 2-1 after Alison Haynes and Ole Anderson beat Chris Gray and Dee Jones 1-6, 6-4, 6-2, the match hinged on the battle of the No 2 pairs.

Abingdon's Jax Brownie and Roberto Liddi took the opening set 7-6, but they saw Mark Rowe and Carole Smythe claim the next two, also both on tie-breaks for a 6-7, 7-6, 7-6 win.
