KARL Robinson said Oxford United’s tactical shape was key to them taking a point at The Valley.
Marcus Browne’s stunning first half strike was levelled by Charlton Athletic captain Jayden Stockley as the U’s left the capital with a hard-earned draw.
Robinson watched as Billy Bodin skied an effort in stoppage time, before Simon Eastwood made himself big to deny George Dobson right away at the other end.
United’s head coach said: “For me, it’s two points dropped but with their chance at the end, probably a point gained.
“I thought for large parts of that game, we looked so much better in our shape – we got bodies in the box, we broke with pace, we had a grit and determination about us.
“Today epitomises this is the shape we need to consistently work with, to be a team that is a threat.
“To come here today and control the first 45 minutes, they made two changes at half-time and were the better team for maybe 10 minutes in the second half, but after their goal we put our front forward again.
“This was a different Oxford United than you’ve seen so far this season.”
