Banbury captain Benji Hector refused to be downcast after his side failed to press home a winning position against Oxford.
Hector's men had Oxford 127-9 and were later 74-1 in pursuit of 178 in Saturday's Home Counties Premier League Division 1 clash.
A superb stand between Jaimie Noble and Luke Ryan then put Banbury on the brink of victory again before Oxford salvaged a draw.
Hector said: "I think both Luke and Jaimie showed particular character to get us back into the game.
"It is easier to blame one or two batsman for us not getting home, but the bottom line was we didn't finish up well in their innings.
"Because we didn't bowl them out quickly enough, they had ten overs more than us to bat.
"In terms of the points split, the game looks in their favour, but we did more of the running."
Oxford skipper Jason Harrison said: "We didn't play as well as we can, but we still did well in certain areas.
"The latter half of our innings was superb.
"It shows we have got a great squad where we can get ourselves out of a hole.
"We knew that Benji and Craig (Haupt) were quality performers, but we hung in there to get the breakthroughs.
"Noble and Ryan then played superbly, but unfortunately for them, they couldn't close it down.
"Having said that, with four overs to go I still thought we had a chance of winning the game."
