Vicky Strode scored 76 not out as Charlbury eased to a 62-run victory over Oxford in the Women's Midlands League.

Batting first, opener Strode was well-supported by 14-year-old debutant Rhian Todd, who scored 36.

For Oxford, Lucy Marsh took 3-22.

In reply, Oxford fell to 121 all out, with Strode again leading the way.

She took 4-17 in eight overs, with Vicky Price claiming 2-13.

Parker top-scored for Oxford with 47, but it was all in vain.

  • Wicket-keeper-batsman Ashley Hubbert, 15, answered a late call to play for Oxfordshire Under 16s in a friendly with their under 17 counterparts at East & West Hendred on Saturday.

And the youngster, who has been in good form for club side Minster Lovell so far this season, certainly made the most of his opportunity as he top-scored with a fluent and well-compiled 71.

He then kept wicket, but despite his best efforts, the under 16s finished up on the losing side in a six-wicket defeat.
