Oxford Cavaliers crashed to a 46-6 defeat at Redditch Ravens in their second league match.
Cavs, sponsored by Oxford & Cherwell Valley College, played well in bursts, but gave away too many penalties to concede promising field positions which the Ravens capitalised on with several short-range tries.
At 6-0 down, Oxford suffered a major blow when centre John Connaughton was injured and could take no further part in the match.
The turning point was in the five minutes before half-time when two poor Cavaliers kicks gifted possession to the Ravens, who scored converted tries on both occasions, making it 22-0 at half-time.
With ten minutes remaining, good pressure resulted in a deserved try for Nick Goodger, converted by Shane Turner.
Late on, Cavaliers' fitness showed up well with good passing movements and a fine dummy and break from Jack Briggs almost resulted in a second try.
