Bartholomew (Eynsham) faced some red-hot opposition in the England inter-schools under 16 girls' badminton national finals at Derby.
Winners of the south east region tournament, Bartholomew finished fifth of the eight teams.
They made a very nervous start in their opening group game, going down 5-0 to London winners Therfield.
It was a similar story as they came up against eventual winners Nottingham Girls High School, whose two Grade 1 players helped serve up a 5-0 victory.
Bartholomew finally showed the form which had taken them this far by beating West Midlands winners Kingswinford 4-1.
Kathryn Wilson took the opening singles 21-20, before Kingswinford levelled with a doubles win.
Emily Fisk won her singles 21-19, before Louise Kemp and Wilson edged home 21-20 in their doubles and Holly Clyne and Fisk took the last 21-19.
