Reigning champion Jenny Abbott beat Pauline Withey in a high-quality Ladies Individual semi-final at Port- cullis.

Abbott was on first with the break and almost played out the table scoring a brilliant 12,780, missing a couple of balls after the gate dropped.

Withey played out of her skin in the second leg, replying with 12,460.

Being the quicker player, Withey had more time, but came off the break at a crucial moment, which cost her vital seconds, and she just missed out 13,580-12,610 on aggregate.

Abbott will now meet teammate Sue Atkins, who ran out a comfortable 10,990-1,080 winner over Nicki Stratford.

In the Men's Individual semi-final at the Horse And Harrow, Nelson's Keith Sheard eased to a 2-0 win over Dave Tooke.

Tooke had the break in the opening leg and had chances to build up a lead.

But after establishing a cushion of 4,000, Sheard captured the break and finished off with a run of 7,140.

Sheard rattled up more than 9,000 in the second leg to wrap up the match 17,670-11,410.

He will now face the winner of Ray Sturgess and reigning champion Steven Sheard in the final.
