Joe Bibby, from Radley, was in fine form as he took the gold medal to become the national speed bounce champion for under 15 boys at the Sportshall National final at the NEC in Birmingham.

Bibby recorded 96 bounces in 30 seconds, missing out on a national record by one bounce.

Verity Shayler took silver in the under 13 competition with a personal best of 86 bounces.

Emma O'Hara threw 9.36m to finish fifth in the shot, but Emily Moore missed out on a medal in the under 15 girls' standing long jump as she recorded a distance of 2.33m to take fifth place.

Both the under 13 and 15 girls finished in eighth.

There was disappointment for the athletes as the running events had to be cancelled owing to a slippery floor left after a concert the previous evening.

SAM Benfield, from Witney Roadrunners, leapt 5.33m - just a centimetre below his personal best in the under 17 boys' long jump at the Havant Open on Saturday.

He also clocked 55.6secs in the 400m.

Josh Benfield threw a personal best of 7.33m in the under 15 boys' shot, and also took on the hammer, where he recorded a distance of 16.96m.

In the under 17 girls' competition, Sophia Gardner clocked 2.58.2 in the 800m, while Hannah Jarvis recorded 31.1 in the 200m and threw a personal best of 6.50m in the shot.
