OFA Joe Roughton Under 18 Cup
Nick Thorne scored twice as Kidlington lifted the OFA Joe Roughton Under 18 Cup with a 2-1 win over Thame United at Ardley.
Kidlington were generally in the ascendancy, but it took the second of Thorne's strikes in the 79th minute to eventually end their opponents' stubborn resistance.
Thame kicked down the infamous slope in the first period, but were only able to really trouble Kidlington keeper Matt Hutton on one occasion - Hutton diving full length to divert a shot around a post in the 24th minute.
It looked as if the teams would go in level at half-time, but just before the break some trickery out wide by Thorne enabled him to force his way into the opponent's penalty area.
As he advanced on goal, he was tripped, but got up to take the spot-kick himself and buried it into the top right-hand corner of the net.
Thame put Kidlington under considerable pressure in the opening exchanges of the second period.
And they drew level in the 52nd minute when hesitancy in the Kidlington defence allowed space for Jim Mickley to pick his spot from close range.
Kidlington reacted to the setback by making two substitutions - and it had an instant impact.
After Piers McGlynn and Rio Cardle went close, Thorne scored what turned out to be the winner.
Picking the ball up on the left flank, Thorne cut inside before firing in a 25-yard effort that flew into the net.
