Two-goal Matt Green called it "a good day at the office" after Oxford United chalked up their biggest win of the season.
Green was left out of the starting XI, but came off the bench to score two late goals to seal United's 5-1 victory over relegation-threatened Farsley Celtic.
He said: "It's strange, it seems like you play three games in a row and don't really get a sniff (of a goal) and then you come of for the last half an hour and it seems like everything falls for you "It was great to get on the scoresheet and the result was even better - 5-1 . . . it shows the fans what we could be like next year.
"Everyone says we could have had double figures. Macca (Craig McAllister) had about four chances, he hit the post and on another day they're going to fly in as well.
"But we're not disappointed. At the end of the day, there's five that have gone in the back of the net. They scored one, which was a poor one to concede on our behalf.
"The manager said 'I don't want to just win 1-0, I want to win by a large amount of goals'.
"The boys who came in with fresh legs, like Yemi, have basically all taken their chances. It was a good day at the office."
Green said he was disappointed, but accepted, being dropped.
"The gaffer's said to me that I've got a bit of an ego, and I have," he admitted.
"I want to play every game, but Yemi's come in and he's done a job at the end of the day. He looked fresh and he looked lively today.
"You've got to take your hat off to him, so the gaffer knows best, I suppose!"
Green said he was one of those queueing up to try to take the second penalty Oxford were awarded.
But they all gave way to Adam Murray who, despite having had an earlier spot kick superbly saved, was prepared to go up again.
"I wanted the second penalty as well because I didn't know what Muzza was going to do, obviously when you've missed one, you're not sure," he added.
"But he's shown his calibre, nothing fazes him. You can see the way he gets on the ball and his great passing ranges, he's a very confident lad, and he's played at the highest level."
Green added: "It didn't seem like a Conference game, it seemed just like an end-of-season game, so people shouldn't get too carried away.
"It was a great result, and I'm really happy for the team because we did show our potential today."
