Oxford City 0
Bridgwater Tn 1 (Pepperell 58)
Oxford City's hopes of the Division 1 South & West title departed on a frustrating afternoon on Saturday.
City created most of the chances as they dominated the first half, little being seen of the visitors' attack.
Strikes from Leon Woodruffe and Errol Telemaque should have been put away, but the City duo missed the target.
Darren Pond also had a great chance, but his effort hit the outside of a post.
Steve Orchard produced Bridgwater's only chance of the first half, firing straight into the hands of City keeper Steve Smith.
But the visitors scored the only goal in the 58th minute, following the award of a free-kick close to the touchline.
Nat Pepperell's well-driven shot went racing through a crowded goalmouth past the unsighted Smith.
Surprisingly, stunned City rarely threatened their opponents goal after that, Alex Stewart's off-target header being their best effort.
The result saw slip City to fourth and in danger of facing an away tie in the play-off semi-finals.
Oxford City: Smith, Saulsbury, Woodruffle, Gunn, Pond, Avery, Telemaque (Gardner 62), Malone, Stewart (Falconbridge 71), Lyon, Bell (Romeo 62). Subs not used: Davis, Carbon.
Attendance: 256
