Bicester's David Kuester came second in the South East Counties Throwers Association second pre-season Weights Pentathlon Competition at Ewell Court, Epsom.
Kuester, who also competes for Oxford City Veterans, was in the 60-65 age group where he put up a storming display in cold, windy and wet conditions.
He won the javelin with a throw of 36.71m, and came second in the shot put with 10.63.
Fourth places then followed in the hammer (31.40), discus (29.24) and heavy weight (11.90), and were enough to secure him silver.
