Banbury beat promotion challengers West Hampstead 1-0 on Saturday to win the South League Premier Division 2 title They finished ahead of Tulse Hill on goals scored, with both teams having identical points and goal difference.
Banbury are already looking at some tantalising games next season, with Teddington, Oxford Hawks and Oxford University all in Premier Division 1.
But they will do so without departing captain Matthew Bull, who handed the armband to his vice-captain Charlie Murphy after the game.
Twice Banbury keeper Phil Smith had to be at his best to thwart West Hampstead's top scorer Jack Beard.
From one of these saves Banbury broke and forced a short corner, from which Simon Boardman deflected the ball home the winning goal.
Other scores: West Hampstead 2nd 2, Banbury 2nd 0.
