Bicester secured promotion to Southern Counties North at the third time of asking after winning 37-3 at Abingdon in the BB&O Premier Division.

Having finished third for the past two seasons, Bicester can no longer be overhauled by Oxford.

Chipping Norton, meanwhile, all but guaranteed the title with a 67-5 victory at Swindon College.

Bicester opened the scoring on five minutes with a fine individual try from Chad Ward.

Abingdon came close to a try of their own before prop Simon North kicked a penalty.

Following a driven lineout, scrum half Steve Risbridger found lock Dan Spencer, who crashed over for Risbridger to convert.

Bicester were held up moments later, but from the resulting penalty, Dan Spencer went over for his second.

Visiting flanker Anthony Nightingale produced a try-saving tackle before Abingdon No 8 Steve Grant went close on the left.

Dan Spencer slotted a penalty just before half-time.

Early in the second period, centres Chris Nash and John Rollason linked with flanker Dan Kimber to put Adam Spencer across on the left.

Almost immediately, Anthony Lewis reacted first to touch down Risbridger's chip and Dan Spencer converted.

Right at the end, more powerful driving saw No 8 Rob Thurlow rumbling over.

Chippy continued the good form they had shown in two friendlies over the Easter break and ran in 10 tries against a Swindon side who have proved difficult to beat at home.

Jamie Lakin opened the scoring for Chippy with a penalty, with Andy Chapman, Tom Hall and Robbie Naish soon crossing over to give them clear breathing space.

Lakin converted one, while their back row of Jason Gillett, Ashley Nasir and Matt Dawson were now running the show.

Barry Nutt was next to score after Meryck Royce and Aaron Tustin combined well, allowing Sam Townsend to create the overlap.

Lakin added a penalty and converted a try from Ian Hancock, with Swindon landing their only try in between.

Chippy maintained their momentum after the break with Lakin bagging another penalty and Hancock notching his second try.

Hall and Tustin, Dawson and Lakin wrapped up the try-scoring with the latter converting two.

Oxford warmed up for Saturday's county Shield final with a 39-9 victory over Gosford All Blacks.

Despite playing into the wind, the hosts scored first when they created an overlap for wing Joe Hartley to run in from 60 yards.

Gosford kicked for position and were rewarded with two successful penalties from scrum half Tim Ellis.

Oxford hit back with Jack Rudman crashing over, but a third Ellis penalty made it 10-9 at half-time.

The second period was a different story, with prop Ed Mitchell soon plunging over.

Gosford defended with passion, but couldn't stop Adam Thompson finding a gap to score.

Tim Knapp and Paul Molyneux ran in tries six and seven, with Tom Olley converting both.
