Wallingford went level on points with leaders Olney after grinding out a 13-5 victory at struggling Aylesbury in Southern Counties North.
Olney could only draw 7-7 with Swindon, but still have a significant points difference advantage.
Lock Paul Lewis came close to barging over for a try from a well worked lineout move, but the ball was spilt as Aylesbury's defence showed their commitment.
Wallingford opened the scoring with a 30th-minute penalty from fly half Pete Strang.
A handling error saw Aylesbury hack ahead and score a try before the break.
Wallingford started the second half well with Derek Viljoen, Matt and Mike Chapman and Tom Hill all involved.
The pressure told with Strang jinking under the posts and converting his own score.
Wallingford wasted other chances and saw full back Henry Venners yellow-carded for a swinging arm.
But Strang was able to slot another penalty to make the game safe.
Grove battled gale-force winds and driving rain to defeat Milton Keynes 10-0.
They defended well to keep it scoreless at the break despite having Zach Grant sin-binned for illegal use of the boot.
Fly half Roger Sevier slid in to kick clear Milton's best chance.
The second half saw hooker Steve Dixey denied a try for a knock-on, but Grove took the lead with a Roger Sevier penalty.
Both sides had chances before Grove struck decisively at the end.
Their pressure told with No 8 John Smart crashing over and Roger Sevier converting.
Having lost nine times by a single score, Witney finally edged a nail-biter - 7-3 at home to Buckingham.
Witney's try came from a Buckingham mistake, which was latched onto by James Elwood, who sent Carl Strutt over.
Ellwood converted to seal victory after the sides drew on the opening day of the season.
