Banbury United boss Kieran Sullivan has spoken of his disappointment after striker Matt Murphy joined Unibond Division 1 South basement boys Spalding United.
The former Oxford United player signed on the dotted line after talks with the Lincolnshire club on Wednesday and could make his debut in tomorrow's home clash against Sheffield.
"Spalding are making a desperate bid to stay up and they have a mystery backer who is putting money into the club," said Sullivan, whose side travel to Premier Division title-chasers Team Bath tomorrow.
"I think they made him an offer he couldn't refuse. It's disappointing because I was hoping he would stay. He was injured for chunks of the season, but when he played he did well for us."
Mark Essex (Achilles) and Matty Travers ('flu) are doubts, while Wayne Blossom may have to work.
Meanwhile, Exeter City are not pursuing their interest in midfielder Scott Bridges, following his recent trial at the Blue Square Premier club.
Banbury Utd (v Team Bath, away): from Wheeler, Murrell, Fuller, Kinch, Essex, Milner, Stanbridge, Travers, Pearman, Williams, St Bridges, Sc Bridges, Gordon, Baird, Blossom, Bryan, Sambrook, McKay.
