Banbury Utd 2
(Murphy 37, Blossom 88)
Cheshunt 1
(Farrell 71)
SUBSTITUTE Wayne Blossom returned after a five-match ban to snatch a dramatic winner for Banbury United in the Premier Division - and send Cheshunt down.
Blossom came on in the 84th minute, and was promptly booked after just two minutes for an altercation with an opponent.
He was then denied by Cheshunt keeper Corrin Brooks-Mead, on loan from Fulham, but had the last laugh when he poked home the winner two minutes from time.
Banbury had Joe Murrell to thank in the first five minutes when he made a fantastic save from Darrell Cox at point blank range, following the defence's failure to cut out a left wing cross.
From then on, Banbury dominated and opened the scoring in the 37th minute when Matt Murphy rifled the ball home through a crowded goalmouth.
Brooks-Mead saved on at least three occasions from Nicky Gordon in the first half, and Lewis Travers and Stuart Bridges missed chances after the break.
Banbury were made to pay when Cheshunt substitute Liam Farrell equalised in the 71st minute, but Blossom had the last word.
Banbury Utd: Murrell, Travers, St Bridges (Blossom 84), Essex, Milner, Fuller, Pearman, Williams, Murphy, Gordon, Stanbridge (Sc Bridges 63). Subs. not used: Bryan, Sanbrook, McKay.
Attendance: 302.
