Banbury United teenager Scott Bridges could be on his way to Blue Square Premier side Exeter City if a trial proves successful.
And now Bridges, 19, is waiting to hear back from the west country club having spent the first three days of this week on trial at St James's Park.
Banbury boss Kieran Sullivan said they would be reluctant to lose Bridges, whose brother Stuart also plays for the Puritans. Both players were at Aston Villa as youngsters.
"I'm not sure whether Exeter will do anything before the transfer-window closes," he said.
"We've got an agreement with Scott. We don't want to lose him, but I won't stand in his way if they make him an offer.
"He has played for us in a variety of positions - he is very good with the ball at his feet."
Both Bridges are in the squad for Saturday's Premier Division home game against Cheshunt.
Tommy Kinch (hamstring strain) and Greg Williams (cramp) are doubts.
Oxford City player-boss Justin Merritt wants a positive response from his team following their below-par showing against Godalming, starting with their home game against Hayes.
City, who are fourth in Division 1 South & West, lost 2-1 in a display described by Merritt as one of their worst of the season.
"We were very poor against Godalming," said Merritt. "But I don't want to dwell on it. There's a few sides that have had a bit of a wobble, so we have to work hard make sure that we don't undo all the good work we have done this season.
"It was a bad performance - not good at all. I won't make any excuses. Eight or nine of the players under-performed and you can't get away with it at this level.
"We spoke to the players after the game and told them to forget about the play-offs and the title and just concentrate on playing football."
City will be without Errrol Telemaque (suspended), while Ricky Allaway is fit after injury. City also hope to re-sign striker Alex Stewart (pictured) in time for tomorrow's game.
Stewart left for Burnham last month, but failed to settle.
Meanwhile, midfielder Mark Jones has joined Aylesbury United.
Didcot Town boss Stuart Peace has not yet given up hope of winning the title, despite leaders Farnborough being eight points clear.
But he says the Railwaymen need to get back to winning ways with the visit of Paulton Rovers.
"I don't think we can pull their lead back, but we must at least make the play-offs."
They will be without Andy Williams (hamstring), while Jack King ('flu) and Richard Witt (knee) are doubtful. Liam Hope returns.
Abingdon United will be without five players for their home game with Thatcham.
Oxford United loanees Matt Taylor and Ben Weedon have gone on loan to Cirencester Town, while Jamie Brooks (hamstring), Nathan Woodley (ankle) and Tom Franklin (suspended) are out.
Nathan Meade has returned from America, where he had college trials.
The Oxfordshire Senior Cup final between Banbury United and North Leigh is at the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday, April 15 (ko 7.45).
