Fox Match Isis Oxford captain Robin Cave finished second individual in the Angling Times Team Championship contested by 14 teams and 140 anglers at Monk Lake in Kent at the weekend.
High winds made presentation difficult and despite Robin's efforts, the Oxford team had to settle for 11th place.
The winners were Thatchers, with Daiwa Dorking second.
Des Ship (Daiwi Dorking) was top man with 70.0.0, while Robin weighed in 64.8.0.
The Oxford man said: "It wasn't a good result for us, but for some of the new guys who have just joined us it was a great learning curve."
There was only 11 fishermen on the Acorn Angling Carp League match at Rissington and although weights were down, fish were there to be caught.
Fishing the pole with pellet in the margins, Rob Guppy found 44.10.0 of carp for first place, followed by Jack Drew with 23.15.0 on pellet and Andy Benwell with 23.14.00 on corn.
Kidlington AS fished a Green Road SC-sponsored Open on the Cherwell between the Boat House and Branson's Bridge.
Topping the 12-man field with 16.1.0 was Terry Lester (Kidlington), who landed two chub and a bream on pole and maggot.
In second place was teammate Alan Middleton, who had two bream and a gudgeon on straight bomb with double maggot worth 11.5.0 Darren Reynolds (Clan- field) used a chopped worm feeder with worm on the hook to catch a bream and two perch for third with 9.5.0.
The Evenlode Champion- ship, organised by Charlbury AC, was fishing by a good field of 45 from Chadlington to Fawler on a clear and low river.
Dave Todd emerged as top man with 15.4.0 of chub on the straight lead and maggot to take the title.
Not far behind was Phil Bowen with 13.8.0 of chub on stick float and maggot, followed by Don Hedges with 11.10.0 on pole and maggot.
Oxford Bus AC fished their school waters' and although the Cherwell looked good, the wind played havoc.
Anthony Tompkins triumphed with a net of roach and perch on worm and maggot for 6.9.0.
Tony Prescott had a roach of 1.2.0 in his second-placed bag, while Terry Yates was third.
Eight North Oxford AS anglers fished the Thames at Godstow and Colin Quarterman thought he was going to bag up when his first cast produced a chub of around 4lb.
But that was it for quite a while until he netted a bream to seal the match with 6.2.0. The chub took bread and the bream liked maggot.
Legering worm, Maurice Winstone landed a 1.8.0 perch for second place, while a roach of 1.0.0 on maggot-feeder gave Steve Foster third.
After last week's bumper weights on the BMH, Jolly Anglers came back to reality at Chalmore. From the seven anglers, there were three blanks.
Fishing maggot-feeder, Dave Mitchell had two chub for 5.8.0, followed by Bill Davies with 2.14.0 and Lee Crook with 2.7.0.
Bread was the key bait in the Cuddesdon Mill VAA Open at Warren Barn, a stretch of the Thame near Chippinghurst.
The first three all fished legered bread and all caught chub.
In first place with two for 5.5.0 was Roger Smith, followed by Peter Price with a fish of 3.15.0, and Mick Harding with another chub of 2.10.0.
There were just a handful of fish caught in Littlemore's Nicole Cup fished at Sandford, and they were all chub.
Ken Franklin made it back-to-back wins thanks to a fish of 5.4.0 on maggot-feeder, while Gerald Perks was second with a chub of 4.11.0, two ounces heavier than Malcolm Smith's fish of 4.9.0 in the first hour of the match on pole and maggot.
The third and final leg of Sutton Courtenay's Markertow Shield was fished by 11 on a very poor Appleford Reach, so poor that only five fish were caught and there were no small species around.
Legering cheesepaste, winner Alan Hewer netted a chub of 4.11.0.
Phil Boyes was second with a bream and a small chub on an open ended feeder with a maggot/worm cocktail for 4.8.0, while three maggots on a maggot-feeder tempted a bream worth 4.5.0 to give Steve Wheatley third.
The fifth fish was a skimmer caught by Brian Leahy.
