Mr Splodge and Bering Gifts, Aston Rowant trainer Alan Hill's veterans, could run at the Oxford University Hunt Club meeting at Kingston Blount, near Chinnor, tomorrow.

Now a 14-year-old, Mr Splodge is entered in the men's open alongside old rival Tanager, who was second to Northall Lad at Horseheath in Cambridgeshire two weeks ago.

The Hookie Bookie, a dual winner this season before being pulled up in a maiden hunters' chase at Leicester, and New Entic, who was second to Heaven Is Above at Detling in Kent, are other potential runners.

Mr Splodge is also entered in the ladies' open in which Hill could instead rely on his other evergreen warrior, Bering Gifts.

The 13-year-old has already shown himself to be in good heart this term when winning under a fine Emily Jarvis ride at Cottenham in Cambridgeshire.

Honest Endeavour, second to Sir Storm at Brocklesby Park in Lincolnshire, and Iznogoud, the former Martin Pipe-trained chaser, are a possible rival.

However, the nine-year-old is also entered in the members' race where he would appear to have a major chance.

In the opening confined race, To The Top, another runner from Hill's nearby yard, looks to hold strong claims.

First of seven races is 12noon, with proceeds from the meeting going to the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals Cancer Charity.
